Meet Little Man
Meet Little Man!
Little Man has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy.
Cerebral palsy is a physical disability that affects movement and posture. Cerebral palsy is an umbrella term that refers to a group of disorders affecting a person’s ability to move. Cerebral means ‘of the brain’ and palsy refers to ‘a lack of muscle control’. Cerebral palsy affects body movement, muscle control, muscle coordination, muscle tone, reflex, posture and balance. People who have cerebral palsy may also have visual, learning, hearing, speech, epilepsy and intellectual impairments. In our case it was most likely caused by either a birth injury or a stroke in utero. Little man demonstrates signs of Hemiplegia and is affected on just one side. We are still assessing to see what all is affected as far as his visual field and we are anxiously waiting his new AFO and SMO to help him get the support he needs to work on walking and balance.
Little man has the best laugh in the world and a smile that will melt your heart. He is so determined to hit each and every milestone and works tirelessly each day to learn to effectively utilize his weaknesses to still meet his end goal.
*What would you like the world to know about your child?
Little man came to us at just 12 days old. He had an adventurous start in life and has stolen our hearts from the moment we met him and there has never been a doubt in my mind that he was meant to be with us. Pretty soon he will legally become a member of our family and we cannot wait to officially be a family!
