Meet Little Bear

Meet Little Bear. He has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and is one year old.

Cerebral palsy causes impaired movement associated with exaggerated reflexes, floppiness or spasticity of the limbs and trunk, unusual posture, involuntary movements, unsteady walking, or some combination of these. People with cerebral palsy can have problems swallowing and commonly have eye muscle imbalance, in which the eyes don't focus on the same object. They also might have reduced range of motion at various joints of their bodies due to muscle stiffness.

His mom says, Little Bear's greatest strength is resilience. Despite all the obstacles that have been in his life, he continues to show up every day and fight for his independence, sometimes with 3 hours of therapy per day. In the past 6 months since he came into our lives, he has gained so many new skills and is trying new things every day.

Little Bear loves music and loves making noise. He loves playing with his siblings and shape sorting toys.

This artwork was completed by his soon-to-be adoptive brother (age 6). He drew big blue eyes and a tongue sticking out because those things remind him of Little Bear. He drew hearts all around for the people that love him.
