After an incredibly close race, (literally had to screenshot and count to make sure) we have our first ever, Eliie's Project winner! Congratulations miss Josephine!!
When we set out to start our business, we made it our mission to focus heavily on the special needs community. Inclusion being our main goal. Along with inclusion, we wanted to raise awareness, educate, and embrace differences.
When we launched our first annual Ellie's Project, we weren't sure what reach we would have, or if we'd even have any applicants. Not only did we end up with eight submissions, we also had THOUSANDS of Facebook "shares" and comments. The love and support we saw was nothing short of amazing. It was a wonderful reminder of how beautiful this world can be.
Every single one of the children who submitted their art work had an equally beautiful story. I learned so much, and I hope so many others did, too.
Miss Josephine's story, is not only touching, it's very unique. She is the only child known to have a dual diagnoses of Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy, and CDKL5. Josephine's art submissions featured both of those conditions.
"Miles," the lion in her design is the unofficial mascot of Congenital Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy. He used to travel to the kids who's parents were in the Facebook group for the condition. They began to make a lion for each one of the kids who's parents requested one.

The starfish represents the IFCR, the organization that provides information and resources for those with CDKL5.
The lime green ribbon coincidently happens to represent BOTH of Josephine's conditions. Because of this we chose to go with a lime green trim to tie it all together. (A special THANK YOU to Kenzy Kreations for graciously donating her time and talent to turn these adorable drawings into the perfect pattern)

The "Josephine" limited edition line will include rompers, two piece sets, adult sets, and blankets. 20% of the proceeds will go to a related charity of Josephine's family's choice.
Thank you Josephine (and family) for allowing 7 Pines to be a part of your beautiful journey. We are honored to be a part of it.
Much love,
The 7 Pines Family
